Newsletter Update

The Friends membership would like to extend our hearty congratulations and a handshake to our new Commanding Officer Capt. Ken Fecteau. Although he has been an  important part of the backbone of our squadron for a long time, he will be instated as the official C.O. this Thursday night. In honor of this event  the Friends Society are hosting a Reception following the parade. Please stay for about  45 min. to indicate your support of our valiant leader.

“In case you haven’t received any of our former messages, we are hosting an auction dance  May 10th. May Day, May Day, May Day” is the code that pilots use when they're in trouble. And, although we're not in financial distress yet we thought it was a good theme to use for our May 10th gala event. We're using this aviation code in the month of May to promote a fun-filled evening dance to raise ten thousand dollars thru tickets and an auction for our 533 squadron.

We still need about a dozen parents to help that night. so please come prepared to sign up for a few hours between 4pm and 2am May 10 or 11 for this event,, or for the  preparation and/or cleanup Don’t worry you and your group will still have plenty of time to enjoy the evening– if we have enough helpers. We will be selecting Coordinators and helpers for the remaining event positions Tickets, signup sheets and other resources will be available at the CO’s Reception this Thursday, May 01. May 08 will be your last day to bring most items and pickup ticket packages.

Hopefully everyone is busy with getting their 2 donations for this event and selling at least 5 tickets. Please email us with the name of your auction item's) and the number of tickets sold this week. We will be publishing a list of items and donators on the website as well as on our next newsletter updates

Contact us for copies of the May Day flyer, donation letter or newsletter updates. Our last newsletter had a list of ideas for auction items. See the following page for  more important event information and the present list. . So for $20.00 advance tickets, bring your friends and come out to the Hall for this adult only event. Put on your old goggles, bomber jackets and caps, and come to bid on some really neat and exciting stuff. while you dance the evening away.

Keep watching for our Father Day fund-raiser . We also desperately need cadet representation on the Hall board as Major Barr would love the company and we would have greater influence in future decisions. Surprisingly enough, you don't have to live in St. Albert to be involved.

Barb Nichols and the board,
